The center of Dubai, its Burj 2020 area is about to be transformed into a huge world-class 10 hectares Uptown Dubai district situated next to Jumeirah Lakes Towers.
DMCC, the free zone and master developer of the Dubai’s JLT area plans to start construction of a new business and residential project adjacent to
DMCC said construction work in the area previously known as Burj 2020 has already begun. The first stage of the project will cover almost 2 million square feet. In the meantime, DMCC does not disclose either the project cost, or the number of phases.
Uptown Dubai is expected to create 10,000 new jobs over the next decade and house over 200 retail outlets, shops and luxury hotels.
Two super-tall towers will become the development’s main landmark, with the main podium featuring two-level plaza at a height of 28 meters above the ground. which is going to be larger than Times Square in New York and linked directly with multiple trading units and a shopping center.
Dubai DMCC plans to launch Uptown Dubai first Phase residential off-plan sales in the first quarter of 2018, without disclosing the price range for now.
“Uptown Dubai is a world-class smart district unlike anything on the market, innovatively designed to deliver a new beat for business, and a truly urban destination for people to live, work and thrive,” said Ahmed Bin Sulayem, the executive chairman of DMCC.
“Two super-tall towers and a vibrant central plaza will anchor the 10 million sq. ft. development, creating an ultra-connected, energizing district designed to meet Dubai’s next wave of growth,” he added.
